The Foujita Foundation

Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita (1886 – 1968) always showed great tenderness and kindness towards children, whom he often depicted in his works without ever experiencing the joy of being a father. This is why his wife Kimiyo, faithful to the artist’s spirit and the affection he had for them, bequeathed the moral and patrimonial rights to all his work to the Fondation on his death in 2009. Apprentis d’Auteuila non-profit organization that has been helping the most vulnerable young people and families for over 150 years.

To keep this legacy alive and pay tribute to them, the Foujita Foundation was created in 2011, under the aegis of the Fondation Apprentis d’Auteuil.

The Foujita Foundation embodies the artist’s spirit and generosity.

In the image of this singular jack-of-all-trades artist, the Foujita Foundation encourages cultural openness, personal fulfillment and the development of know-how through artistic practices.

Our missions

As heir to the artist, the Foujita Foundation is committed to protecting, promoting and bringing to life the work and history of Foujita, a multi-talented, engaging and inspiring figure, and to promoting the sharing of knowledge.

The Foundation Foujita uses the income from its royalties and the donations it receives to develop projects involving artistic practice and cultural openness, with the aim of promoting the education, training and integration of young people and families with educational, social or family difficulties supported by Apprentis d’Auteuil and its partners.
