“Theater: a trigger of desire!”
“La Passerelle pour la Seconde” gives certain students a “transition” year between junior high and high school, offering an alternative to repeating the3rd year.
At the heart of the class project, theater workshops help to unite the group around a common project, and to renew students’ learning mechanisms by putting them in situations that differ from the usual classroom setting.
The teacher introduces the students to theater and takes into account each student’s personality in the distribution of the text.
The theatrical performer comes in at a later stage to welcome and enhance the work already done with the teacher on the text.
It invites students to be more demanding in their presence on stage, their concentration, their awareness of space and of others on the stage, both :
- when they’re on stage, for more listening, emotion and sincerity,
- and out of the game for greater silence and respect for the work of others.
The project also enables them to discover and practice different arts (theater, music, video, singing). It opens up their curiosity, while developing their self-confidence.
The presence of a professional guitarist, vocal coach and videographer during the sessions structures the performance and gives the students greater confidence in their work.
The theatrical workshop is a wonderful tool that enables the teacher to unite her class around a common project and each student to find a place that suits them: actor, assistant director, video assistant, sound technician, lighting technician…
It gives students in difficulty an opportunity to be recognized by the group and to showcase their individuality and talents.
This project was co-constructed with the Fondation Foujita.
