Foujita Magician of everyday
Foujita seized on all forms of craftsmanship and transformed everyday objects into works of art.
In his interiors, he mixes genres, surrounding himself with both antique and very modern objects, sometimes of great value, as well as objects of popular or sacred art. Some of these can be found in his work.
He sometimes diverts their uses. Each object in his universe has a personal story, and enchant the artist’s daily life.
This creative abundance was expressed in ceramics at the Lachenal studio in Châtillon around 1930, and at the Madoura studio in Vallauris, with Picasso in the 1950s.
