UNDER THE AEGIS OF THE FONDATION APPRENTIS D’AUTEUIL
The Fondation Foujita
Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita (1886–1968) always showed great tenderness and kindness toward children, whom he often depicted in his works, even though he never experienced the joy of fatherhood. That is why his wife Kimiyo, true to the artist’s spirit and the affection he had for them, bequeathed the moral and economic rights to his entire body of work to Apprentis d’Auteuil upon her death in 2009.
To keep this legacy alive and pay tribute to the artist, Apprentis d’Auteuil established the Fondation Foujita in 2011 under its auspices. The foundation’s official launch took place in the presence of Mr. Komatsu, the Japanese Ambassador to France.
Furthermore, in order to support the work of the Fondation Foujita, the Board of Directors of Apprentis d’Auteuil has decided to systematically allocate the royalties collected and to be collected by Apprentis d’Auteuil to the Fondation Foujita , unless otherwise specified by the donor or testator. The estate of Marie Laurencin, bequeathed to Apprentis d’Auteuil, therefore falls under this framework.
The Fondation Foujita embodies the artist’s spirit and generosity.
